Turn your phone into a wireless scanner for your PC

Quickey Connect is a tiny, free helper for Windows. Run it, scan its QR from the phone, and your barcode and text scans type straight into whatever app is focused on your PC — WhatsApp Web, Excel, your billing software, anything.

What it does

• Receives your scans over Wi-Fi (same network) or the internet and types them at the cursor in any Windows app.
• Pairs in one step — the PC shows a QR code, the phone scans it. No IP addresses to type.
• Applies your prefix/suffix and a real Enter/Tab so scans drop into the next field or send a message.
• Runs quietly; a small window shows the pairing QR and a log of what it typed.
• Hosts Quickey Sessions: the Live Sessions tab creates a session with a 6-digit code and QR, up to 25 phones scan into one list (stored in a local SQLite file), duplicates are caught per your rule, and you export CSV or JSON. The Synced Sessions tab receives pocket sessions phones scanned offline. Requires Quickey Connect 1.2 or newer.

Installing & running it

The installer takes a few seconds, needs no administrator rights, and puts Quickey Connect in your Start menu. From then on it keeps itself current: when a new version is out it downloads in the background and offers Restart to update. Because it's a new app from a small publisher, Windows shows a one-time safety prompt the first time you run the installer. Here's the whole flow:

1. Click Download for Windows above and save the file.
2. Double-click QuickeyConnect-Setup.exe.
3. If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway. (This appears until enough people have downloaded it; it's not a virus warning.)
4. Quickey Connect opens with a QR code. It runs as a normal user. Only if you need to type into an app that itself runs as administrator, use the Restart as admin button inside the window.

Prefer no installer? Portable zip — unzip anywhere and run QuickeyConnect.exe (no automatic updates).

Phone and PC versions must match. When you pair, both apps check each other. If one is too old, the phone tells you which one to update and the PC shows an update banner.

Connecting your phone

1. On the phone, open Quickey → Connect → WiFi (or Internet).
2. Point the camera at the QR code in the Quickey Connect window.
3. It connects instantly; the PC log shows Paired. If Windows Firewall asks the first time, allow Quickey Connect on private networks so Wi-Fi mode works.
4. Go to the Barcode or OCR page, turn on Send to device, and scan — it types on your PC.

Running a team session

1. In Quickey Connect open the Live Sessions tab and click New live session. Give it a name, pick the duplicate rule (allow, unique in session, unique per device) and optionally the expected count.
2. The PC shows a 6-digit code and a session QR. On each phone open Quickey → Sessions and type the code, or scan the session QR from the Connect page — it pairs and joins in one step.
3. Phones scan from the Session scan page (camera on top, live list and counters below), from the Barcode page, the floating button or the keyboard. Every scan appears on the PC at once with device, operator and time; duplicates are refused on the phone with a buzz.
4. If a phone loses the PC it says Server is not reachable — no online scan and reconnects by itself when the PC is back.
5. When the count is done, End session and Export CSV / JSON. Pocket sessions scanned without a PC arrive in the Synced Sessions tab when the phone syncs them.

Sessions are part of Quickey Business (₹149/month per phone, $3.99 outside India). Each phone that scans needs its own plan; up to 25 phones fit in one session. Every phone gets 200 free scans to try them, and short videos add session time afterwards. The Windows agent itself is free.

Is it safe?

• Quickey Connect runs entirely on your PC and network. It only receives the scans you send and types them — it doesn't upload anything.
• Pairing uses a one-time code from the QR, so a random device on your network can't connect.
• It runs as a normal user and needs no administrator rights. Only typing into an app that itself runs as administrator needs the Restart as admin button. It uses the same standard Windows input method (SendInput) that automation tools use.
