Privacy Policy

Quickey is built to keep your data on your device. Scanning, text recognition, keyboard input and typing all happen locally — we don't send your scans, camera images or recognized text to our servers. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what the app does and doesn't do.
The short version. Quickey works offline. Barcodes, OCR and auto-typing are processed on your phone. We don't require an account, we don't build a profile about you, and we never upload your scan content or camera frames. The only data that leaves your device is what's needed to show ads and process an optional subscription — both handled by Google.

Quickey ("Quickey", "we", "us") is an Android app published by Trustech. It's a fast, offline barcode scanner, text scanner (OCR), custom keyboard and floating scan bubble, with an optional "scan to PC/TV" feature and a companion Windows program called Quickey Connect. This Privacy Policy describes how the app handles information when you use it.
By installing and using Quickey, you agree to the practices described here. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Information we collect
Quickey collects very little, and most of what it works with never leaves your device. Here's the full picture:
- Scan and OCR content (stays on device). When you scan a barcode or recognize text, the decoded value is processed on your phone and then placed on the clipboard or typed into the field you choose. It is not sent to us.
- Content you save (stays on device). Product catalog items (titles, prices, images and files you add) and your saved quick-text snippets are stored in a local database on your device.
- Advertising data (collected by Google, not us). If you use the free tier with ads, Google AdMob may collect device identifiers and your advertising ID to serve and measure ads. See Third parties.
- Subscription/purchase data (handled by Google, not us). If you buy the optional subscription, Google Play Billing processes your payment. We receive confirmation that you have an active entitlement, but never your card details.
- Basic diagnostics. The app may keep local logs to help it run and to let you troubleshoot. These stay on your device unless you choose to share them with us for support.
What we don't collect
To be completely clear, Quickey does not:
- send your scan content, decoded barcode values or recognized text to Quickey's servers;
- store or upload camera images or video frames — frames are processed live for decoding and then discarded;
- require you to create an account, log in, or give us your name, email or phone number to use the app;
- read, collect or upload the contents of other apps' screens;
- build an advertising or behavioral profile about you ourselves;
- use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs beyond what Google AdMob requires to serve ads.
Permissions
Quickey only asks for permissions it needs for a feature you're using, and several are optional. Here's each permission and why it exists:

You can grant or revoke these permissions at any time in your device's system settings. Turning off an optional permission simply disables the related feature.
How your data is used
Because Quickey does its work on your device, "use" here mostly means local processing:
- To make the app work: decoding barcodes, recognizing and extracting text, typing values into fields, and running the keyboard and floating bubble — all on your device.
- To save what you ask us to save: your catalog items and quick-text snippets, stored locally so they're available offline.
- To connect to a PC or TV: sending only the keystrokes and mouse input you generate, over Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or the internet, to the device you choose.
- To show ads (free tier): Google AdMob uses device and advertising identifiers to deliver and measure ads.
- To manage subscriptions: Google Play Billing processes payment and tells the app whether you have an active subscription.
We do not sell your personal data, and we don't use your scan or OCR content for advertising.
Third parties
Quickey relies on two Google services. When you use the related features, their handling of data is governed by Google's own policies:
- Google AdMob — serves ads in the free tier and may collect device identifiers and the advertising ID to deliver and measure ads. See Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You can reset or limit your advertising ID in your device settings.
- Google Play Billing — processes payment for the optional subscription and the rewarded-ad pass. Google handles your payment details; Quickey never receives or stores your card information. See the Google Privacy Policy.
Aside from these, Quickey does not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
Data storage & retention
- On your device: catalog items, quick-text snippets and app settings are stored in a local, on-device database. They are not uploaded to us and stay under your control.
- Retention: local data stays until you delete it in the app or uninstall Quickey. Uninstalling the app removes this local data from your device.
- Camera frames: processed in memory for live decoding and not retained.
- Ads & billing data: retained by Google under their policies, not by us.
Security
Keeping your data on your device is our main safeguard — there's no central store of your scans for anyone to breach. Local data is protected by Android's app sandbox and your device's own security (screen lock, encryption). When you use "connect over the internet" mode, the connection between your phone and your PC is used only to relay the input you generate. No method of storage or transmission is ever completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we design Quickey to minimize what's collected in the first place.
Children
Quickey is a general-purpose tool for work and productivity. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us and we'll help.
Your choices & rights
- Permissions: grant or revoke any permission at any time in your device settings.
- Auto-type: the accessibility-based Auto-type feature is off by default and entirely optional — you can use the Quickey Keyboard instead.
- Ads: reset or limit your advertising ID in device settings, or remove ads via the optional pass or subscription.
- Your local data: delete individual catalog items or snippets in the app, or uninstall Quickey to remove all local data.
- Requests: for any privacy question or request, email hello@quickey.biz and we'll do our best to help. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data — since we hold almost none about you, most requests are satisfied by managing data on your own device.
Changes to this policy
This policy reflects Quickey's current functionality. As we add or change features, we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. If a change materially affects how your data is handled, we'll make a reasonable effort to highlight it in the app. Please review this page from time to time.
